that's it, all over, length ball on middle, makes room and chips it over mid-off for a boundary to seal it for Delhi
KKR vs Daredevils, 31st match at Durban, IPL, May 05 2009 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Daredevils won by 9 wickets (with 6 balls remaining)
A nine-wicket win, but Kolkata had enough chances. They'll be cursing themselves for the kind of performance they've put in today.
Gambhir was the top-scorer but he survived at least four chances. Two dropped catches, a run out and a caught-behind not given. Dilshan had his share of luck too, having a catch dropped off him at fine leg. 155 was a competitive target, and Warner gave Delhi a breezy start.
Gambhir was extremely patchy, but his eventual score will give him a much-needed boost after struggling for form. Dilshan continued his good run, and the three combined to hand their team a convincing win in the end. Seven defeats for Kolkata now, and Delhi take the top spot on the points table with five wins.
Presentation time.
McCullum: "It's disappointing, and for most parts of the game we were in the match, but we dropped too many catches. We fell around 20 runs short, but all three guys played exceptionally well in their team. There are some positives but it's hard to get the momentum back when you're losing."
Gambhir is the Man of the Match: "It was very important for us to win this game, the teams are very close in this tournament. 154 was always chaseable, and Amit Mishra and Ashish Nehra bowled well. I am not spotting the ball well, but I was happy I batted through. Dilshan, the way he has been batting this tournament, it won't be long before he gets his orange cap."
That's all we have from here folks. Thanks for your feedback, and do join us tomorrow when Deccan Chargers take on Mumbai Indians. Until then, it's goodbye from all of us at Cricinfo. Cheers!
dropped, again, again, again!! Banged in short on leg stump, went with the pull from the front of his face, his eyes were off it, Henriques at deep square leg covered good ground to his left and spilled it reaching forward
he made room, the bowler chased him, dropped it short, tried to guide it to third man, the bounce got it to just evade the outside edge
short of a good length on middle, pulled down to deep midwicket
short of a length outside off, made room to slash it over point, missed
meaty!! That seals it more or less, length ball on middle, in the slot, he had a mighty swing, connected beautifully to clear deep midwicket
yorker length outside off, made room and dug it out towards cover, was sent back
two more, overpitched outside off, made room and drill it past a diving cover
bowled on a length on the off, driven a little wide of long-off and they come back for the second, good running by Dilshan
banged in short on the off stump, makes room, slashes hard, edges it over the keeper to the third-man boundary, too many of these today, too bad for Kolkata
full toss on middle, mistimes a pull just short of Hodge at deep midwicket, failed attempt to clear the ropes but manages a single
slower one bowled on a good length outside off, guided down to third man
Henriques is back
short of a length on middle, pulled away wide of a diving midwicket for four more, the end is near now
there have been a few of these, full outside off, tried to smash it down the ground, a wild swing really, got a thick edge to beat third man
banged in short outside off, a touch too short perhaps, Dilshan tried to hook it behind square, missed
short of a length outside off, makes room to slash it away over point, misses, bounced more than he expected
full on middle, driven straight to midwicket where Ganguly has a shy at the stumps but Gambhir has made it back easily
fullish on middle, tried to paddle it fine, got the top edge and it landed well short of third man
That's been the story of the day for Kolkata. Even their substitute fielder has not been spared. Absolutely horrendous fielding display
dropped, Arindam Ghosh the culprit this time, another easy one goes down, good length on middle, paddles it wide of fine leg, an audacious shot that, ended up skying it and Ghosh running to his right appeared to get under it nicely for a moment but spilled it as soon as he made contact, tried to juggle around but to no avail
full toss outside off, makes room and slices it down to third man
