Nottinghamshire's second eleven were well beaten in their AON Trophy match at picturesque Workshop College on Monday.
Having been dismissed for just 125 Notts, with Tolley, Bowen and Stemp in the side, struck back in dramatic fashion to reduce Gloucs to 7-3.
A stand of 53 between Chris Bassano and Chris Taylor looked to have put the match firmly beyond the home team but having made 22 Taylor, who hit a century on his Championship debut at Lord's a fortnight ago, swept at Stemp and was bowled round his legs.
New batsman Mark Hardinges ran himself out almost immediately, pushing the ball straight to Chris Tolley and failing to get home when his partner correctly sent him back.
The mini-collapse continued when Budd fell to Clough but Reggie Williams, for many years Jack Russell's understudy as `keeper, showed his batting prowess to race to 38 not out and see the west country side home by 4 wickets with almost 4 overs to spare.
Earlier in the day Notts collapsed dramatically after Tolley and Bowen had put 30 on for the first wicket. Wayne Noon hung around for 26 but skipper Mike Newell's decision to bat first on winning the toss backfired. The pick of the Gloucs bowling was Cawdron with 3-27 and Martin Ball chipped in at the end with 3-10.
