saw India successfully chase 326 to emerge worthy winners. The contest
itself was passionate, tense and the excitement bubbled over in a near
perfect ODI.
9th Match: India v Sri Lanka at Bristol, 11 July 2002
Tendulkar's 33rd ton, another gem from the master, powered India to a
strong win in the last match of the league phase. Sri Lanka once again
went away emptyhanded.
8th Match: England v India at The Oval, 9 July 2002
In a truncated match that wasn't going to affect the composition of the NatWest final, England comfortably defended their sizeable total against a crumbling Indian batting.
7th Match: England v Sri Lanka at Old Trafford, 7 July 2002
Sri Lanka finally found the winning ways at Old Trafford in
Manchester. The notched up their first win of the English summer -
beating England by 23 runs.
6th Match: India v Sri Lanka at Edgbaston, 6 July 2002
India entered the final of the NatWest ODI tri-series with a four-wicket win over Sri Lanka at
Edgbaston in Birmingham. After restricting Sri Lanka to just 187, India emerged victorious
thanks to Rahul Dravid's knock of 64.
5th Match: England v India at Chester-le-street, 4 July 2002
Tendulkar's (105*) 169-run fourth wicket partnership with Dravid (82) propelled India to their highest ODI score against England. But persistent drizzle later in the day meant a victory remained beyond their reach.
4th Match: England v Sri Lanka at Leeds, 2 July 2002
The rain-shortened England-Sri Lanka one-dayer at Headingley went right down to the wire. With Trescothick, batting in an imperious vein, England found the inspiration to overhaul a steep Sri Lankan target.
3rd Match: India v Sri Lanka at The Oval, 30 June 2002
India won their second match of the NatWest series, but not before they made heavy weather of chasing Sri Lanka's meagre total.
2nd Match: England v India at Lords, 29 June 2002
The Lord's clash turned out to be spectacular with India winning
by 6 wickets on the back of 71 from Sehwag, 73 from Dravid and 64
from Yuvraj Singh.
1st Match: England v Sri Lanka at Trent Bridge (D/N), 27 June 2002
A thorough professional display by England saw them humble Sri Lanka by 44 runs in the day and night encounter played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Andrew Flintoff was named Man of the Match for his brilliant allround performance.
