TEAMS
Jack Marsh, the well-known aboriginal fast bowler, died in hospital at Orange (N.S.W.) on May 26. He played Grade cricket for the South Sydney and Sydney Clubs, and also appeared for New South Wales. In the match with Victoria at Sydney in February, 1901, he was no-balled 17 times for throwing by R. Crockett, of Melbourne; the other umpire, S. P. Jones, however, allowed his bowling as fair. A few seasons later he had a six months' tour through the Commonwealth with a Hippodrome company, being exhibited in the role of a fast bowler and demonstrating his skill to any countrymen who were anxious to stand up against him.
Wisden Cricketers' Almanack
He drank heavily after stopping playing cricket and was killed in a street brawl in Orange, NSW.
