Known as the reverse-sweeping demon of the Associate world, George Munsey's path to the Scotland national team is as unorthodox as his trademark shot. Born and raised in Oxford, Munsey had dreams of becoming a professional golfer and it was a golf scholarship to the Loretto School, just outside Edinburgh, that brought him to Scotland at age 13.

However, Munsey's self-realisation that he preferred a team environment over the individualistic nature of golf began to take shape while captaining the cricket team at the school. Upon graduation, he stayed in Edinburgh and continued to work his way up the ladder via club cricket.

He made his T20I debut in 2015 against Ireland, and got his maiden international fifty a month later during the T20 World Cup Qualifier on home soil.

Through the rest of the 2010s and into the 2020s, Munsey has been a dominant presence at the top of the order in Scotland's T20I side, constantly disrupting opposition bowling attacks with that reverse sweep. However, he showed he is more than just a one-trick pony at the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. With most teams having finally taken the time to scout him and plug that shot with multiple boundary riders behind point, Munsey went back to his golfing roots to drive his way to a pair of half-centuries, including one in a Player-of-the-Match performance to complete a famous upset win over West Indies.

In the ODI side, Munsey bats lower down, taking on spinners in the middle overs where his plethora of sweeps continue to come in handy. But it doesn't mean he is any less potent and as a result he has proven he can be an effective finisher too, making him a versatile batting threat.
