Born in South Africa but raised in Australia, Chris Green is a tall offspinner who has made his name bowling in the powerplay in T20 cricket.

After deciding cricket was his sport having juggled it with a promising junior tennis career, he got his first extended run in the Sydney Thunder side during their victorious 2015-16 Big Bash campaign, and quickly became one of the competition's most consistent performers with the ball.

Having impressed in front of him in the BBL, Green formed something of a partnership with Johan Botha, who signed him while coach of Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League as a replacement player. Green quickly repaid his faith, even taking over as captain for the last few games of the 2018 tournament as Guyana lost in the final, and Botha not only re-signed him in the Caribbean, but also picked him up for Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League.

A useful lower-order batsman and a superb outfielder, Green's opportunities have remained limited in other formats of the game, but he is recognised as a talented short-form player. He was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL auction in late 2019, and continued to globe-trot on the franchise circuit, while signing a record-breaking six-year deal with the Thunder.

Green suffered a major setback in early 2020, when he was banned from bowling due to a suspect action, with his offbreak and his quicker ball both coming under scrutiny. He was cleared six months later following testing in Brisbane.
