An admirer of Sourav Ganguly, Ali Asad was a regular in Pakistan's middle order during the Under-19 World Cup in 2006, and came up with a crucial 69 after the side were in trouble in the semi-final against Australia. A left-hander like Ganguly, Asad performed consistently in the U-19s tour to England in 2007, and scored his maiden first-class hundred - in only his third game - while opening for Karachi Blues against Peshawar. He was the top run-getter for Pakistan U-19s in the five match one-day series against Bangladesh U-19s at home. Asad can keep wickets as well, a duty he's done often for the U-19s.
