Wisden

Columnists

Monday - Steven Lynch - Ask Steven
Steven Lynch won the Wisden Cricket Monthly Christmas Quiz three years running before the then-editor said "I can't let you win it again, but would you like a job?" That lasted for 15 years, before he moved across to the Wisden website when that was set up in 2000. Following the merger of the two sites early in 2003 he was appointed editor of Wisden Cricinfo - but still can't get away from answering questions about cricket.

Tuesday - Round The World
On Tuesdays from January 2004 we will be bringing you a weekly topical comment from a respected writer from around the globe. The panel will include well-informed journalists such as Neil Manthorp, the head of the MWP Sport agency in South Africa; Chris Ryan, the editor of Australia's Inside Edge magazine and of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack Australia; and Kamran Abbasi, the London-based Pakistan expert.

Wednesday - The Wisden Interview
Every week we will bring you a meaty interview with someone topical from the cricket world. The first lucky victims included England's vice-captain Marcus Trescothick, Bangladesh's inspirational coach Dav Whatmore, and Raymond Price, the emerging Zimbabwe spinner. This page is edited by Freddie Auld in London and Nagraj Gollapudi in Mumbai.

Thursday - Sambit Bal - Indian View
Sambit Bal is the editor of
Wisden Asia Cricket magazine, which was founded in 2001, and of Wisden Cricinfo in India. He was formerly the editor of Gentleman, a monthly features magazine published from Mumbai, and of the total-cricket.com website. He took to journalism at the age of 19 after realising that he wasn't fit for anything else, and to cricket journalism 14 years later when it dawned on him that it provided the perfect excuse to watch cricket in the office.

Thursday - Andrew Miller - English View
Andrew Miller joined Wisden Online when it was set up, and soon graduated from put-upon photocopier to a writer with a penchant for comment and cricket on the subcontinent. He has covered England tours in Pakistan and Sri Lanka ... and Bangladesh, where one local website dubbed him "the Father of Bangladesh cricket".

Friday - S Rajesh - The Numbers Game
Every week we take a look at the story behind the stats, with an original slant on facts and figures. The column is edited by S Rajesh, Wisden Cricinfo's assistant editor in Mumbai. He did an MBA in marketing, and then worked for a year in advertising, before deciding to chuck it in favour of a job which would combine the pleasures of watching cricket and writing about it. The intense office cricket matches were an added bonus.

Saturday - Martin Williamson - Rewind to
Martin Williamson joined the Wisden website in its planning stages in 2001 after failing (like so many) to make his millions in the internet boom when managing editor of Sportal. Before that he was in charge of Sky Sports Online and helped to launch and run Sky News Online. With a preference for all things old (except his wife and children) he has recently confounded colleagues by displaying an uncharacteristic fondness for Twenty20 cricket. His enthusiasm for the game is, sadly, not matched by his ability, but he remains convinced that he might be a late developer and perseveres in the hope of an England call-up with his middle-order batting and non-spinning offbreaks.
