Namibian captain Deon Kotze offered no excuses for his team's disappointing defeat at the hands of Zimbabwe in Harare today.
Rain ended the Namibian innings at 104 for five after 25.1 overs, just enough for Zimbabwe to be declared winners by 86 runs, following the Duckworth-Lewis method.
"It was a big day for our guys and they were quite nervous as well," said Kotze. "We have to feel quite disappointed, especially with the way we bowled and fielded. They are the two disciplines we pride ourselves on and we have done quite well in all season.
"I can't really say too much about the batting. Once you are chasing a total of 340, guys always have to play some expansive shots even to get anywhere close, so it's difficult to say anything about the batting."
Zimbabwe skipper Heath Streak admitted that he would have put the opposition in given the prevailing conditions.
"Normally we look to bowl first on this wicket," said Streak, "but of late the wickets have been superb for batting and there hasn't been much moisture on them. It's six of one and half a dozen of the other so I wasn't really too fussed, but we were looking to bowl first."
Craig Wishart, who made 172, was also happy that his team had lost the toss, but had some words of comfort for the Namibians.
"Deon (Kotze) said they had an off day today and I'm sure in the next few games they'll produce the goods," he said.
