Stuart Law is players' Player of the Year

Essex batsman Stuart Law was voted the Fleming Professional Cricketers Association Player of the Year last night at The PCA Awards Dinner at the Royal Albert Hall

Essex batsman Stuart Law was voted the Fleming Professional Cricketers Association Player of the Year last night at The PCA Awards Dinner at the Royal Albert Hall.
The 38 year old right-hander scored 1833 runs in the 1999 season at an average of 73.22. Law joins a distinguished list who have won the PCA Player of the Year Award including Sir Richard Hadlee, Malcolm Marshall, Courtney Walsh, Graham Gooch, Brian Lara and Mike Proctor.
He is 31st winner of the award and the other nominees in 1999 were Andrew Caddick and Robert Turner (Somerset), Saqlain Mushtaq (Surrey) Alamgir Sheriyar (Worcestershire)
Another batsman, David Sales of Northamptonshire received the CGU Young Player of the Year Award having scored 1291 runs at an average of 51.64. His highest score was 303 not out. Andrew Flintoff, Michael Atherton and Dominic Cork are previous winners of this award.
The other 1999 nominees were Alex Tudor (Surrey), Stephen Harmison (Durham), Vikram Solanki (Worcestershire) and Graeme Swann (Northamptonshire).
A popular winner of The Burke Ford Special merit award was David English, a `cricket nut' who through his Bunbury Cricket Team has raised over 6 million pounds for charity. He staged the first ever junior U15 Cricket World Cup in 1996 and the event continues to grow ever stronger with next years final at Lords on 10th August.
