Scotland have named a 14-man squad for their first three games in the National League. It includes their two overseas players, Sridharan Sriram and Yasir Arafat.
"I've spoken to Rahul [Dravid] about the wickets and conditions here, so I know what to expect," Sriram said on his arrival in Edinburgh on Monday. "He told me that there are a good bunch of guys here and although he has left big shoes to fill, I'll do my very best. I've done well in my own country, but it will be a challenge to do it abroad."
Sriram normally bats at No. 3 and has scored over 1,000 first-class runs for the last three successive Indian domestic seasons. He toured England with India A last summer, hitting hundreds against Surrey and Warwickshire.
Craig Wright, Scotland's captain, told the BBC that he was looking forward to playing with Sriram. "His first-class record in India is highly impressive. He gives us two options - at the top of the batting order and with his left-arm spin bowling. With a year's experience behind us, we should be able to be at least as competitive, if not more so, than last year."
Scotland Craig Wright (capt), Cedric English, Dougie Lockhart, Colin Smith (wkt), Stuart Bruce, Ryan Watson, Paul Hoffman, Ian Stanger, Robert More, Majid Haq, Fraser Watts, James Brinkley, Sriram Sridharan, Yasir Arafat.
