Saeed Anwar answering fans' questions

Q1. After being such a popular game and so much investment behind it still we cant capitalize on our talent any comment on that ?"

Saeed Anwar: I think its wrong as we don't have an academy and still we are producing top class cricketers and don't forget our performances, we have beaten India in India, we were in the final of the last world cup and won the Asian test championship.

Q2. How are you feeling now, is your knee 100% or you still feel some pain?

Saeed Anwar: My knee is 100% ok but the pain might take upto six months, but with playing I wont aggravate it, so I will play."

Q3. What do you think about Imran Nazir as opening partner with you?

Saeed Anwar: Imran is a briallant cricketer with great temperament but he has lots of technical problem. He will learn with time.

Q4. My question is in light of the report by Pakistan Board, it seem as all the Pakistani cricketers are involved. Should they all be banned from the Game?

Saeed Anwar: I don't think the whole team being involved, its only the players who have been left out because of performance have been trying to get in through blackmailing. Mark Waugh and Shane Warne have accepted taking money still they are playing.

Q5. I (Khan-Atemad) used to play with your father at Airport stadium in Karachi back in early seventies, where is your father these days?

Saeed Anwar: My father is in Lahore.

Q6. Why is that despite having the best crop of fast bowlers in the world, Pakistani batsmen appear so uncomfortable against fast bowlers?"

Saeed Anwar: We are not bad against fast bowlers. We struggled against Muralli and Shane Warne as well, because we don't have a professional coach.

Q7. Do you think that when the 1st Test between the WI and England, should Brian Lara be put into the team? Whom would he replace?

Saeed Anwar: Brian Lara selects him-self. He is world class.

Q8. Can you please comment on, Moin Khan's strategy on the 4th day of the previous test?

Saeed Anwar: I think the pitch was a placid one and 200 runs would have been piece of cake so why risk. I think he did the right thing with Abdur Razzaq unfit in that innings.

Q9. Why do you think Mohammad Akram has not been given a game instead of Waqar Younis and is Younis Khan good enough to be in the side?

Saeed Anwar: I think when I was the captain I made Waqar play in Pindi to gain confidence. Also I didn't opt for Mushtaq because Lankans were good against spinners. So for somebody who is playing after a long time he needs a helpful pitch to get his confidence back, thats why Akram is not playing because pitches in West Indies are dead. While Younis has started of well but struggling now plus we don't have any options available.

Q10. You have the following choice to make: Lara in his prime or Tendulkar in his prime. Who do you choose?

Saeed Anwar: There is no match to Lara. Sachin's performance is brilliant in India and average outside india..., whereas Brian has performed all over the world, no match."

Q11. I have a question about concentration. How can you improve concentration to play long innings in batting? Also, what is good way to play a rising ball on the off stump.

Saeed Anwar: You have to focus on every ball, do not get distracted, only concentrate on the next ball.

Q12. How have the new opening partnership (2nd inn 2nd test) impressed you?

Saeed Anwar: Well they played very well, but the pitch was brilliant and even Walsh wasn't getting out. But still partnership over 200 on any track is a wonderful job.

Q13. Why did you leave the captaincy after very less matches?

Saeed Anwar: Because firstly I got injured, secondly I haven't been lucky at all.

Q14. Why Pakistan is not playing with the fast bowlers in WI tour, why Moin Khan is keep playing with two spinners in all matches?

Saeed Anwar: Pakistan is playing with enough fast bowlers, the pitches there are very slow.

Q15. Muslims cannot wear gold chains and amulets, why are all the Pakistanis wearing, don't the parents know this.

Saeed Anwar: Well I am concerned bout myself only and I think they are all old enough and they all know this. I don't wear these things, so its all upto them.

Q16. Do you think the Pakistan players' performance will be affected by the disclosure of Justice Qayyum's report ?

Saeed Anwar: I don't think so, this has been going on for almost 2 years.

Q17. What are the strengths and weaknesses of Moin as a captain?

Saeed Anwar: Moin is a fighting personality, which is very essential and he is positive, only bad thing is, it is affecting his own performance.

Q18. What do you think what is the cause behind the inconsistent performance of the Pak batters ? Are they too cautious and defensive? Are you going to play at Asia cup ? Hope to see u Dhaka and all the best.

Saeed Anwar: Thanks, I will InshAllah go to Dhaka, inconsistency comes when you are unfit, we don't have a proper trainer, and we playing the more cricket compared to other teams, so if we don't work on fitness we wont be consistent. For fitness we need 2 months off as well.

Q19. People like Younis Khan as a middle order batsman not a one down, so why doesn't Pak look for a player who's permanent position in batting is at one down??

Saeed Anwar: Well we are trying.

Q20. How do you think Pak will fare without Shoaib, Wasim and Saqlain in Asia Cup ?

Saeed Anwar: Well Shoaib hasn't done extraordinary at all, but we will miss saqlain and Wasim a lot especially against india.

Q21. Our record is outstanding except against RSA on ODI. Why haven't you got more runs against them?

Saeed Anwar: Well we beat SA in straight 7 matches then we lost I guess 13 in a row somewhat that had gone to our minds, but now we have beaten them so it will be different. My own performance really hasn't been good, I have been very unlucky against them, I usually start off well and get out. Only in the last test series I scored 350 runs against them
