1 Pathum Nissanka is the first Sri Lankan to score a double-century in ODIs. The previous highest score for Sri Lanka was Sanath Jayasuriya's 189 against India in the 2000 Coca-Cola Champions Trophy final.
While Nissanka is also the first male cricketer to score a double-century in Sri Lankan List A cricket, four female cricketers have scored double-tons previously: Sadamali Dolawatte (231* in 2007), Sripali Weerakkody (271* in 2007), Suwini de Alwis (236* in 2010) and Chamari Athapaththu (201* in 2013).
169 Kumar Sangakkara's score against South Africa in Colombo in 2013 was the highest individual ODI score in Sri Lanka before Nissanka's double-ton.
210* Nissanka's score in Pallekele is the highest for any batter in ODIs against Afghanistan, bettering Glenn Maxwell's 201* at the Wankhede during the 2023 ODI World Cup.
136 Balls Nissanka took to reach 200, making it the third fastest double-century in men's ODIs. Ishan Kishan's double-ton against Bangladesh in 2022 came off 126 balls, while Maxwell's 201* against Afghanistan came off 128 deliveries.
128 Runs in boundaries scored by Nissanka during his 210*, the most for a Sri Lankan batter in ODIs. The previous highest was 110 by Sanath Jayasuriya during his 134 against Pakistan in 1996 and Thisara Perera in his 140 against New Zealand in 2019.
2 Batters younger than Nissanka (25 years, 267 days) when they scored a double-century in men's ODIs. Shubman Gill was 23 years and 132 days old when he scored 208 against New Zealand in 2023, while Kishan was 24 years and 145 days old when he hit against Bangladesh.
381 for 3 Sri Lanka's total in Pallekele is the third highest in ODIs in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka's 398 for 5 against Kenya in the 1996 World Cup is the highest, while Pakistan made 385 for 7 against Bangladesh during the 2010 Asia Cup.
720 Total runs scored in the first ODI between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. It is now the highest aggregate for an ODI hosted by Sri Lanka, surpassing the 652 runs between Sri Lanka and Kenya during the 1996 World Cup game.
339 for 6 Afghanistan's total in Pallekele is their highest in the ODI format, going ahead of their 338 all-out against Ireland in 2017. The 339 by Afghanistan is also the highest by any team in a run-chase in Sri Lanka.
284 Runs added by Afghanistan after losing their first five wickets for 55 runs. These are the most runs scored in an ODI innings after the fall of the fifth wicket. The previous highest was 267 runs by New Zealand against Sri Lanka in 2015 from five down for 93.
242 Partnership runs between Mohammad Nabi and Azmatullah Omarzai, making it the second-highest stand for the sixth or a lower wicket in ODI cricket. Grant Eliott and Luke Ronchi hold this record for their unbeaten 267-run sixth wicket stand against Sri Lanka in 2015 in Dunedin.
Nabi-Omarzai's effort is also the second-highest partnership for Afghanistan in ODIs, behind the 256-run opening stand by Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz against Bangladesh last year.
1 The partnership between Nabi and Omarzai is now the highest by any pair to end up on the losing side in ODIs. The previous highest was a 235-run opening stand by Herschelle Gibbs and Gary Kirsten against India in 2000.
