Gauteng batsman Sven Koenig has received a one-match suspension after being found guilty of dissent during a Standard Bank Cup match between Gauteng and Free State in Bloemfontein on December 6
Koenig appeared before Adv Michael Kuper, disciplinary commissioner for the UCB, on Wednesday.
He was found guilty of contravening the following clauses of the Rules and Code of Conduct of the United Cricket Board of South Africa:
1.2 Players and team officials must at all times accept an umpire's decision and must not show dissent at an umpire's decision.
1.5 Participants shall not engage in -
1.5.2 Unbecoming or detrimental conduct which could bring them, the Board or the game of cricket into disrepute.
Koenig was sentenced to a one-match suspension with immediate effect. Accordingly, he will not be permitted to play in the Standard Bank match between Gauteng and Western Province at The Wanderers on 16 December.
