NEW ZEALAND v PAKISTAN
Toss: Pakistan
New Zealand dropped their first points, but as the result killed Australia's chances it guaranteed them a home semi-final. Pakistan had to wait until West Indies lost in the evening to know that they would meet their hosts again in Auckland. It was the leg-spinner, Mushtaq Ahmed, who claimed the bowling honours and the match award, but Ramiz Raja was a strong rival. His second unbeaten hundred of the World Cup, and its highest score (16 fours, 155 balls), sustained Pakistan after they were nine for two. Aamir Sohail was caught off Morrison's first ball, which bounced enough to be an arguable no-ball, and Inzamam was bowled in his next over. Patel then put down a return catch from Javed Miandad, on three; Miandad stayed to contribute 30 to a 115-run stand with Ramiz.
