Essex's Graham Napier has been handed positive news following an MRI scan on the ankle injury he sustained at Canterbury last weekend.
Napier was stretchered off after injuring his right ankle while fielding the ball off his own bowling during the Pro40 match against Kent on Saturday. He has been ruled out of the current County Championship match against Warwickshire but may feature in the county's last four-day game of the season against Gloucestershire next week.
"An MRI scan has shown a small tear in one of his right ankle ligaments and a sprain on one of his other right ankle ligaments," said Essex's physio, Peter Gettings, in a statement on the club website. "There is no bony damage. Graham will now undergo a period of physiotherapy and has not been ruled out of next week's Championship game at Bristol at this stage."
