An irritated facet joint in Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath's lower back saw him leave the field during today's VB Series match against England at Bellerive Oval (11 January).
He will undergo diagnostic scans and treatment tomorrow (12 January) before linking up with the remainder of the squad in Brisbane where his fitness will be assessed ahead of Australia's VB Series match against Sri Lanka at the Gabba on Wednesday 15 January.
It is not a recurrence of the injury which forced him to miss the fifth Orange Test against England and VB Series match against Sri Lanka at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 9 January.
McGrath noticed discomfort in his back during the sixth over of his spell and left the field after his seventh to seek attention from Australian team physiotherapist Errol Alcott.
He did not take any further part in the match that saw Australia claim victory by seven runs.
