Glenn McGrath will return to first-class cricket as the Waugh brothers bow out, in New South Wales's Pura Cup match against Queensland at the SCG on Thursday.
All three players have been named in NSW's 13-man squad, and McGrath seems certain to play after picking up 6 for 56 in 32.3 overs for the 2nd XI against Victoria last week. It was only his second outing for seven months after undergoing ankle surgery, but he quickly demonstrated that he remains as frugal as ever.
The match is not necessarily the final chapter of Steve and Mark Waugh's first-class careers. NSW can reach the Pura Cup final against Victoria next month if they beat Queensland and Tasmania are denied any points by Victoria.
NSW squad Steve Waugh (capt), Greg Mail, Phil Jaques, Michael Bevan, Michael Clarke, Dominic Thornely, Mark Waugh, Brad Haddin (wk), Matthew Nicholson, Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark, Adrian Tucker, Glenn McGrath.
