Leicestershire secured their first Championship win of the season as they successfully chased down their target with 3.5 overs to spare. HD Ackerman played a captain's innings, as he anchored the chase with 57, after the top-order struggled to 48 for 3. The match-winning stand, however, came between John Sadler and Paul Nixon, as they added 84 for the sixth wicket. For Sadler, it was a winning contribution in his first outing of the season, while Nixon used all his experience to take Leicestershire to the verge of victory. Dinesh Mongia chipped in with 47, the most fluent innings of the day. Derbyshire's assortment of bowlers tried hard, but couldn't create enough wicket-taking opportunities, but when they removed the top-three for less than 50 they will have felt favourites. But Leicestershire's youth policy paid dividends and they will now aim to take this form into their Oakham School festival, next week.
