Lancashire complete Roses double

Lancashire completed a Twenty20 Roses double over Yorkshire by comprehensively outplaying them in the gloom at Old Trafford - winning by a record 110 runs. Stuart Law struck Lancashire's first Twenty20 century - from 56 balls - and they passed 200 for the first time. Mal Loye made 46 from 25 balls, adding 106 with Law. Yorkshire played most of their innings in the rain and the batting slumped against Dominic Cork, James Anderson and Muttiah Muralitharn.

Leicestershire used all their experience to secure a vital two points against Durham. John Sadler's 73 from 48 balls was the cornerstone of Leicestershire's 154 for 7. Ottis Gibson and Charl Willoughby, Leicestershire's opening bowlers, then produced superbly economical spells, while Darren Maddy and Jeremy Snape took two wickets each. Dale Benkenstein hit 33 from 16 balls but Durham couldn't get close.

Derbyshire kept themselves in contention for a quarter-final place with a four-wicket win against Nottinghamshire. Michael di Venuto and Luke Sutton added 89 to break the back of the run chase and despite a middle-order wobble Sutton guided Derbyshire home. Ian Hunter took three wickets to restrict Notts and Derbyshire's spinners again proved hard to get away.

Worcestershire won a thrilling local derby against Warwickshire, for the second time this season by one run, when they just overcame an assault from Heath Streak Defending 141 Warwickshire were dead and buried at 81 for 9 but Streak refused to give up. He sped to 59 from 32 balls as No. 11 James Anyon held up an end. But with three needed from the last ball Streak was run-out after nearly pulling off a amazing result. Earlier, Neil Carter took 5 for 19, running through the middle and lower-order. David Leatherdale top-scored with 32 from 26 balls.

Glamorgan and Northamptonshire suffered a wash-out at Cardiff.

Surrey surged to another victory as their good form continued with a 23-run win over Kent in a match reduced to 15 overs per side. Scott Newman provided lat eacceleration for Surrey with 52 from 27 balls after they had been struggling slightly on 86 for 4. Nayan Doshi then took four wickets to halt an early blast from the Kent batsmen, especially Michael Carberry who made 23 in 9 balls. Kent are still winless in this year's tournament.

Middlesex moved closer to the quarter-finals by completing a 31-run win against Essex. Owais Shah and Ed Smith put on 100 for the first wicket as Middlesex made a useful 185, despite James Middlebrook's 3 for 25. Irfan Pathan and Scott Styris than ripped out the Essex top-order and at 45 for 5 and James Foster's 62 only gave the scoreline some respectability.

Somerset and Gloucestershire had to settle for a point each after rain swept in during the first innings of the match. Gloucestershire were complete control, having reduced Somerset to 61 for 7, with Mark Hardinges taking 3 for 18.
