Simon Jones is aiming to be back in action for the start of the domestic season after beginning his recovery from the knee injury that forced him home from the tour of India. He has had surgery on his left knee and begins a rehabilitation program next week, with the hope of bowling again by the end of the month.
"I'm not going to rush it, but I should be back in the nets in two-to-three weeks," Jones told BBC Sport Wales. "I think I'll be right for the start of Glamorgan's season, but I have to be 100 percent before playing a game."
Despite this latest setback, which follows lengthy spells of the sidelines for previous knee and ankle injuries, Jones is determined to remain upbeat. "I was enjoying myself in India and the injury was really disappointing. I just caught my leg in a foothold and that caused the damage - these things happen and there's nothing you can do. It's important to stay as positive as you can to help the rehab."
Jones is already looking ahead to England's summer schedule, which includes Test and one-day series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. "It would be nice to be able to play for England this summer. Winning the home series would build the confidence before we go up against Australia again for the Ashes next winter."
