Injured Styris to be replaced

The Northern Districts all-rounder Scott Styris will have an operation on his injured knee overnight in South Africa and this will keep him out of action for a month

The Northern Districts all-rounder Scott Styris will have an operation on his injured knee overnight in South Africa and this will keep him out of action for a month.
The Chairman of selectors, Sir Richard Hadlee, said this latest injury to a member of the CLEAR Black Caps touring party was frustrating, but that it appeared Styris would be fit enough for consideration by the time the touring Zimbabweans arrived in New Zealand for one Test and three One Day Internationals, beginning later next month.
"So far as a replacement for Styris is concerned, I have spoken with the other members of the selection panel and we need to check on the fitness of a couple of prospective candidates before conferring again later today.
"As both Ross Dykes and David Trist are in South Africa, it won't be until at least this evening or possibly tomorrow morning before we can name our replacement," Sir Richard said.
Styris is scheduled to return home as soon as practicable after his surgery.
