Michael Kasprowicz intends to work through an injury-ruined season and return next summer in peak condition. Kasprowicz's "debacle" began with groin and back strains and he had bowled only nine balls of his comeback game last Thursday when he tore a groin muscle that may require surgery.
Despite the continual setbacks that probably mean he won't play again this season, Kasprowicz, 34, said he would not join the growing ranks of retirees. "I know it's a little bit on the contagious side at the moment, seeing a few blokes calling it quits," Kasprowicz told AAP. "But I'm enjoying cricket and while I'm enjoying it and feel as though I've got a lot to contribute I'll keep playing."
Kasprowicz, who has a Cricket Australia contract, said he still had plenty to give. "Even leading up to that game on Thursday night in the nets I felt strong, the ball was swinging for me and the pace was really good, so I felt I had plenty of impact," he said. "Having such a debacle of a season this year with injury, you just want to go out there and do it properly next year."
