At Cape Town, April 18, 2009 (floodlit). Royal Challengers Bangalore won by 75 runs. Toss:
Royal Challengers Bangalore. Royal Challengers Bangalore 133-8 (20 overs) (K. P. Pietersen 32,
R. Dravid 66; A. D. Mascarenhas 3-20); Rajasthan Royals 58 (15.1 overs) (A. Kumble 5-5). Royal
Challengers Bangalore 2 pts. Man of the Match: R. Dravid.
Bangalore feared the worst when Mascarenhas took wickets with the first two balls of the match,
but Dravid scored more than the other ten batsmen put together to push his side to a defendable
total. Praveen Kumar took two quick wickets when defending champions Rajasthan batted, then
Kumble treated a sizable Newlands crowd - which had flocked to watch the second of the opening
day's matches - to a delightful (and penetrative) spell of leg-spin bowling.
