Green Park gearing up for fourth ODI:
The secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket
Association, Jyoti Bajpai said in Kanpur on
Wednesday that the Green Park stadium is gearing
up to host the fourth ODI between India and
Zimbabwe scheduled to be played on December 11. He
added that the preparations are nearing the last
stages.
Speaking to Press Trust of India (PTI), Bajpai
said that the teams are to arrive in the city on
December 9 and would be at the nets the same day
and on December 10. He added that tickets for the
eighth ODI at the ground would be sold from 16
centres in the city.
Bajpai also said that the UPCA is now in a sound
financial position and soon after the game against
Zimbabwe, the association would concentrate on the
Deodhar Trophy matches, scheduled to be held in
the city from December 15.
Orissa HC issues notice regarding ticket sales bungling
The Orissa High Court on Wednesday issued a notice
to the District Collector, The Superintendent of
Police, The State Cricket Association and the
Oriental Bank of Commerce over the alleged
irregularities in the sale of tickets for the
first India-Zimbabwe ODI at the Barabati stadium
on December 2.
Press Trust of India in a report said that a
division bench comprising acting Chief Justice RK
Patra and Choudhury PK Mishra issued the notice on
a public interest writ petition filed in the court
recently by Ashok Samal and two others.
The agency also reported that irate cricket fans
had smashed glass panes at the stadium on
Wednesday prior to the match after being told that
all the tickets had been sold out. The issue had
also rocked the state assembly with the
legislators demanding an inquiry into the matter.
The joint secretary of the Mumbai Cricket
Association (MCA) Ratnakar Shetty in an official
press release on Wednesday said that Hrishikesh
Kanitkar will lead the West Zone team for the
forthcoming Deodhar Trophy tournament to be played
in the Central Zone from December 15. West Zone
plays Central at Kanpur on December 18.
