ICC Cricket World Cup preparations gear up with Winter Training Camp

Worl Cup qualifying teams will take part in a trainign camp in South Africa

The Camp, part of the International Cricket Council's (ICC) High Performance Program (HPP) for the six Associate countries that have qualified for the Caribbean, will take place between 10 October and 21 December 2005 at the University of Pretoria's high performance centre.
Under a coaching team led by Scotland coach Andy Moles, the attendees will receive an in-depth structured program of technical, tactical, physical and mental training as the build-up to the tournament continues. Coaches include former England fast bowler and bowling coach Bob Cottam, Gus Logie, the Bermuda coach and former West Indies batsman, and Mark Lane, who previously coached with Moles in Kenya. Two current players, Canada's John Davison and Clay Smith of Bermuda, will also be involved as coaches and are being encouraged to develop their coaching skills as there may be opportunities to become more involved in their countries' respective coaching programs in the future.
The camp--the concept for which was developed around the existing Cricket Scotland plans-- will be attended by eight players from Scotland, three each from Bermuda, Canada, Ireland and Kenya and one player from the Netherlands, although each of the five countries except Scotland has been granted an extra place if they wish.
Richard Done, HPP Manager stated that "The value offered by the WTC is two-fold as it will not only assist in the development of those players and coaches that attend but also allow us to develop a model for future training programs ahead of the opening of the ICC's Global Cricket Academy in Dubai in 2007."
