Ben Hilfenhaus, who made an impressive one-day international debut at Hobart on Sunday, will return to Bellerive Oval on Friday for Tasmania's Pura Cup match against Queensland. Hilfenhaus was released from the Australia squad after Brett Lee recovered from a chest infection and Glenn McGrath overcame his groin soreness.
Queensland have also regained a key fast bowler with Michael Kasprowicz set to play for his state for the first time this season having being sidelined with back and groin injuries. Jimmy Maher, who strained a calf muscle during the Bulls' Twenty20 match on new year's day, has also been passed fit. Ryan Broad could partner Maher at the top of the order after Lachlan Stevens was left out of the side due to personal reasons.
Tasmania are without Michael Bevan, whose retirement on Wednesday has opened the door for the uncapped Dane Anderson, the left-hand batsman who has been a regular member of the Twenty20 and Ford Ranger Cup teams. Luke Butterworth, another player who has not had exposure at Pura Cup level, is also in the 12-man squad.
Tasmania squad Michael Di Venuto, Tim Paine (wk), Dane Anderson, Travis Birt, George Bailey, Michael Dighton, Dan Marsh (capt), Damien Wright, Luke Butterworth, Adam Griffith, Brendan Drew, Ben Hilfenhaus.
Queensland squad Jimmy Maher (capt), Ryan Broad, Martin Love, Clinton Perren, Craig Philipson, James Hopes, Chris Hartley (wk), Ashley Noffke, Andy Bichel, Michael Kasprowicz, Daniel Doran, Nathan Rimmington.
