Hampshire 197 and 111 for 6 (Brown 32) lead Gloucestershire 221 by 87 runs
Scorecard
A less-than-perfect pitch and some mediocre batting were to blame as 14 wickets tumbled on the second day at the Rose Bowl, as firstly Gloucestershire and then Hampshire struggled to come to terms with the early season conditions. It was Gloucestershire, though, who emerged on top as the home side could only build a lead of 87 with four second innings wickets left. After a tough opening day, Shane Warne led a Hampshire fightback in the morning session with two early wickets before Billy Taylor knocked over the late middle-order. But just as Hampshire were sensing an unlikely lead, Kadeer Ali and Jonathon Lewis put up some resistance - in contrasting fashion. Kadeer eked his way to 33 from 144 balls while Lewis blasted 40 off just 37. Lewis then claimed the huge wicket of Simon Katich (20) and John Crawley fell to a bat-pad catch first ball to James Averis. It will be down to Warne - unbeaten overnight with 14 - to pull this game out of the fire with bat and ball.
Surrey 6 for 1 trail Sussex 370 (Yardy 101) by 364 runs
Scorecard
Sussex made good progress on another truncated day, as they extended their first innings to a useful 370 thanks to a hardworking century from Michael Yardy and a sprightly 40 from Robin Martin-Jenkins. James Kirtley then struck with the last ball of the day.

Warwickshire 415 for 4 (Powell 144*, Bell 96, Brown 27*) lead Glamorgan 198 by 217 runs
Scorecard
Warwickshire's batsmen built a sizable lead on the second day at Edgbaston, led by Michael Powell and Ian Bell who added 153 for the fourth wicket. After two early reprieves, Bell looked set for his first century of the season, after moving to 96 with 11 fours, but was trapped lbw playing back to Robert Croft. However, Powell moved past three figures and was unbeaten at the close after striking 18 fours in his 261-ball innings. Dougie Brown was also nearing his ton, his stand with Powell reaching 152, Brown twice clearing the ropes during his knock. Glamorgan's seamers had struck early in the morning session when the pitch still had some juice, as Nick Knight and Mark Waghfailed to find the fluency of the previous evening. When Jonathon Trott was caught behind off Darren Thomas, Glamorgan were working themselves back into the game, but the Warwickshire middle-order reasserted control.
