England secured a 2-0 series win over Bangladesh with a 329-run rout of the hosts in the second Test at Chittagong. Bangladesh were bowled out for 138 on the fourth day, with Chris Read taking five catches behind the stumps and Richard Johnson landing a nine-wicket haul in the match.

Magnificent fielding had much to do with England's win, with outstanding catches today from both Read and Martin Saggers. England first struck as early as the second over, as Johnson produced another lifter to unsettle Hannan Sarkar. The ball found a leg side edge and was brilliantly taken by Read, one-handed diving to his left.
Entering at five for one, Habibul Bashar again began confidently with two boundaries off Matthew Hoggard, and was missed at second slip by Graham Thorpe off Hoggard before needlessly running himself out. After pulling another short ball from Johnson to deep midwicket, Bashar expected a boundary and took the first two runs easily, only to be left stranded by an inch-perfect throw from Saggers when Javed Omar refused a third.
33 for two became 51 for three when Omar, after resisting stoutly for 18, was caught behind as the ball looped up in the air after he tried to cut Saggers. Almost unbelievably the second run out of the morning followed, Rajin Saleh calling for an unlikely single after pushing the ball into the covers. Michael Vaughan's pick up and return left Mushfiqur Rahman short of his ground and an embarrassed Bangladesh were 58 for four.

Saleh himself lasted little longer, providing Read with his third catch as he edged the still convalescent Rikki Clarke, who had to leave the field at the end of the over. That was 70 for five, but the dashing Alok Kapali provided some respite, following a magnificent pulled six with a pedigree straight drive. He fell to the moment of the morning, when an airborne pull to long leg was quite stupendously caught by Saggers, one-handed above his head as he leapt to his right.
Khaled Mashud was the first to go after lunch, unluckily adjudged caught behind off Johnson when the ball brushed his armguard. Khaled Mahmud, determined to go down with colours flying, made himself room to clout Johnson for six and four off successive balls. Mahmud battled bravely despite being hit by a succession of short-pitched deliveries. He lost Mohammad Rafique with the score on 126, playing Hoggard away from his body to give Read his fifth catch.
Johnson's ninth wicket of the match accounted for the Bangladesh captain, caught at midwicket by his opposite number. With the injured Mashrafe Mortaza unable to bat, it was over. The man of the match accolade went to Richard Johnson, while Matthew Hoggard was named man of the series. Marcus Trescothick and Mohammad Rafique were respectively batsman and bowler of the series.
