Drakes signs for Leicestershire

Leicestershire have been given permission by the West Indies Cricket Board to sign West Indies allrounder Vasbert Drakes as a replacement for Virender Sehwag who quit the county last week.

Australia's Matt Nicholson was Leicestershire's first choice but approaches to him were blocked by New South Wales.

If he does sign, Leicestershire will be the fourth county that the well-travelled Drakes, 33, has played for. He has also represented Sussex, Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire. He has played seven Tests and 30 ODIs for West Indies.
