Darren Robinson moves to Grace Road

Darren Robinson has joined Leicestershire for the 2004 season. He was one of five players released by Essex at the end of last summer, and the second - following Jon Dakin - to move to Grace Road.

Robinson made his debut for Essex in 1993, scoring 7149 runs at 31.49 in 136 first-class matches. His best season was in 2002 when he topped 1000 runs for the only time.

A year later, after a poor season in which he struggled with injury and out of contract, he was offloaded as part of Essex's cost-cutting measures following their relegation from the County Championship Division One.
