Northamptonshire have announced that Rob White will not be offered a new contract when his current deal expires in September.
White, 32, retires still holding a proud record. His 277 not out against Gloucestershire 10 years ago remains the highest score for a maiden first-class century in England.
White made his first-class debut in 2000 after working his way through the county age group system, and has spent his whole career at the County Ground, scoring more than 5500 runs at an average of almost 33 in 112 appearances.
An aggressive batsman, he was a key member of Northants' one-day side and holds the record for the most runs, 1189, scored in that format for the county.
David Ripley, Northants' interim head coach, said: "Rob has made match winning contributions in all formats of the game during his time at the club. It has been a frustrating time for him this season with limited first team opportunities, so rather than hang on for a chance that may not come, we feel it's in Rob's best interests to start to look for other opportunities now."
David Sales could also leave Northants at the end of the summer after 19 years with the county. He has been given permission to speak to other clubs, although the county say they may still offer him a reduced new contract if his efforts prove unsuccessful.
