Brown leads Surrey charge

Division One

Nottinghamshire thrashed Gloucestershire by eight wickets at Cheltenham. Gloucestershire subsided to 87 all out, with Younis Khan the surprise bowling package taking 3 for 5 with his legspin. Phil Weston top-scored with 19 before Notts knocked off the runs in 22 overs. Younis and Anurag Singh had few problems, easing their team home.

Division Two

Alistair Brown struck a destructive century to blast Surrey over the line against Leicestershire. Brown raced to 108 from only 63 balls after arriving at crease with Surrey in trouble at 65 for 3. Mark Ramprakash made 69 in a stand of 166 with Brown, then Azhar Mahmood completedthe chase with a rapid 22. Leicestershire posted a decent total thanks to half centuries from HD Ackerman and Aftab Habib, while Paul Nixon belted 47 off 27 balls. But Nixon's efforts were put into the shade by another Brown blitz.
