Bangladesh v India
15-Apr-2004
At Dhaka, April 16, 2003 (day/night). India won by four wickets. India 5 pts, Bangladesh 1 pt. Toss: Bangladesh. One-day international debut: A. V. Kale.
Again Bangladesh managed 200, and they followed that by taking six wickets. A gritty 50 in
94 balls by Habibul Bashar reminded the selectors of the fighting spirit they had thrown away
when they left him out for much of the World Cup. In reply, Sehwag, one of just three survivors
from the Indian side that played in the World Cup final, and captain while Ganguly rested a stiff
back, cut and pulled with his usual power, before Gambhir took India to the cusp of victory with
an elegant 71.
Man of the Match: G. Gambhir.
