A Barbados-Southern Windwards Red Stripe match that threatened to go down to the wire was ultimately won by the Bajans by a fairly comfortable margin of 21 runs at the Enmore Cricket Grounds, Guyana.
Barbados, winning the toss and batting first, scored what appeared to be an insufficient total of 178 for nine in fifty overs. Despite the presence of West Indian batting star Sherwin Campbell, little-known Ryan Hinds contributed the highest score of 59. The batting line-up fairly wilted in the face of McNeil Morgan's bowling performance of 9-1-28-4.
Southern Windwards put a disastrous start behind them to build an innings, with captain Rawl Lewis contributing 55. Barbados though staged a comeback with fine bowling, restricting their rivals to 157 for nine. Pedro Collins and Ian Bradshaw raked in three wickets apiece, helping Barbados advance to the final four round of the Red Stripe Bowl.
