South Africa's selectors have announced the Rest of South Africa team which will take on the Indians in a four-day tour match at Sedgars Park in Potchefstroom starting on December 7.
"We are keen to develop our fringe players by selecting them and creating opportunities for them, to play against international opposition," explained Haroon Lorgat, the national convenor of selectors. "We need to focus our attention on having players available for selection should the need arise during the season."
Lorgat also mentioned that a number of senior players would not participate in the next round of Supersport Series matches. "Graeme Smith, Mark Boucher, Makhaya Ntini, Herschelle Gibbs, Shaun Pollock and Andre Nel will be rested from the four-day games to manage their workload for this season. Ashwell Prince, Andrew Hall, Loots Bosman, Boeta Dippenaar and Robin Peterson have been released be to play for their franchise."
