A right-hand batsman, Parker was picked for the gruelling tour of Pakistan and India in 1976-77, winning his first cap in the third Test at Karachi (John, his younger brother, was New Zealand's captain). Opening the innings, he scored 40, but failed to make any impression in his remaining two outings.
