Sourav Ganguly needs all his confidence going into the ODI triangular series in South Africa. The Indian skipper has had problems against the rising delivery and most teams have a strategy in place for this elegant left-hander. If Ganguly is looking for some motivation, all he has to look is at his One-Day International record against South Africa. His career record consists of 6717 runs scored in 172 matches at an average of 43.33, including 16 centuries and 40 fifties.

Against South Africa, he has a remarkable record; in 18 matches he has scored 835 runs at an average of 52.18, which includes two hundreds and five fifties. His record in South Africa is not that good, 146 runs at an average of 29.20. Ganguly's record as a captain against South Africa is more stirring; in the eight matches played as a captain, he has scored 459 runs at a staggering average of 76.50, including two centuries and two fifties. Ganguly will have to be at his best in the tri-series.
