DID U KNOW...

Who are only the second trio of brothers to play together in a one-day international?(17 October 2001)

In the Prudential World Cup in 1975, three brothers represented New Zealand, turning out in the same team in two matches. Barry Hadlee only played two one-day internationals. Dayle played 11 one-dayers and 26 Tests with little fanfare. Richard went on to become the greatest all-rounder of his era and one of the finest cricketers of all time.

Twenty-six years later, in the Standard Bank Triangular Tournament in South Africa, three brothers were named in the Kenyan team, only the second such occasion after the Hadlees. The Otieno brothers, who prefer now to be referred to as Obuya, have so far played three one-day internationals for Kenya in the ongoing tournament, thus also holding the record for the maximum number of one-day matches player by a trio of brothers.

Kennedy Obuya Otieno made his debut before the other two, playing in the 1996 World Cup as a wicket keeper. The gloves have since passed to his brother, David Otieno, leaving Kennedy free to concentrate on opening Kenya's batting. Collins Otieno, the third brother, is a leg-spinner who has yet to make his mark.
