Scotland end their warmup program winless after an comfortable five-wicket victory to the Yorkshire Phoenix at Scarborough yesterday. The match was reduced to 41 overs a side because of a late start caused by rain. Greg Blewett, playing for Yorkshire because Australia could find no place for him in their World Cup plans, was top score in the match.

Scotland were contained to just 126 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their innings, Gavin Hamilton yet again showing his class above and beyond that of his part-timer teammates. He scored 41 against his regular county side. Craig White, whose England days now appear to be long past, was the most successful of the Yorkshire bowlers with 3/15 from seven overs, while Ryan Sidebottom had the figures of 4-3-1-1.

Yorkshire's innings did start shakily, thanks to the bowling of James Brinkley (2/32) and Asim Butt (1/15). After being 59 for 4, opening batsmen Blewett led the recovery, victory coming with five balls to spare and five wickets in hand. Blewett's 57 not out came from 103 deliveries, his highest score to date in any game for his new county.
