New Zealand suffered an injury blow in the second game of the Chappell-Hadlee series as Chris Harris tore the rotator cuff in his right shoulder. The injury was sustained while fielding at the Sydney Cricket Ground, and Harris will return home as soon as possible.
Harris left the field immediately after the injury and went for an MRI scan after being assessed by a doctor at the ground. The results of the scan and the full extent of Harris's injury will be examined by a specialist on his return to Christchurch.
Harris had flown down only for the one-day series and missed the first game in Melbourne. He was picked ahead of Ian Butler for the second game as the team management thought that the slowness of the pitch at Sydney would suit his style of bowling. However, he didn't get to bowl in the game.
