Brian Lara admitted to hospital in Colombo

West Indian batsman Brian Lara was today admitted to hospital in Colombo, suffering from suspected Hepatitis

West Indian batsman Brian Lara was today admitted to hospital in Colombo, suffering from suspected Hepatitis.
Lara complained of feeling unwell before the West Indies ICC Champions Trophy match with Kenya at the SSC ground, but went on to score 111 out of the team's 50 overs total of 261.
After completing his innings a doctor was called to examine Lara and a decision made to admit him to a local hospital.
"Brian has been feeling below par for a couple of days but was well enough to take part in the game today. When he came in from batting he was in obvious discomfort and the doctor was consulted. The latest information is that Brian will spend the next 24 hours in hospital undergoing tests. At this stage the most likely diagnosis is Hepatitis, but this has yet to be confirmed," said West Indies team manager Ricky Skerritt.
Media note: the West Indies team management has requested media to respect Brian Lara's privacy and to avoid visiting local hospitals in the hope of making contact with him. Any further medical bulletins will be made via the West Indies manager Ricky Skerritt.
