Harmison overcomes Test debut nervousness

England fast bowler Steve Harmison believes things can only improve after he boosted his confidence with two wickets in the second Test.

"I was very nervous on the first day and I was just starting to come around when the bad light came in," explained Harmison. "I was just pleased not to go for too many runs on the first day because I would have lost confidence.

"I was able to relax a bit more yesterday and get into the feel of the game - at times the ball held up in my hand a little bit and wasn't coming out as it should do so there's still a little bit more in me."

"I think in the second innings I can come out and bowl somewhere near where I do when I'm confident. The first four overs I bowled weren't very good on the first day and if I had gone for a few runs the confidence would have gone down from there.

"But we spoke before the start about being disciplined and bowled in channels, bowled to a plan - we bowled below par as a team. We've all bowled spells really well, but I think the Indian batsmen will be really pleased with the score they've got."

It's still unclear whether Dominic Cork will bowl again in the Test after he injured his right knee attempting a run-out on the opening day and was unable to field yesterday.

To India's relief, Match referee Clive Lloyd said he would not be taking any action against the Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who shook his head at umpire Russell Tiffin after he was given out caught behind for 68 off Matthew Hoggard when the ball appeared to brush his forearm.
