Since 1992, the MRF Pace Foundation and the Australian Cricket Academy (ACA) have worked together in fulfilling some of their joint objectives. Young hopefuls from both the programmes have exchanged visits, which have proved beneficial. And since last year, such arrangements between the Pace Foundation and the ACA have been formalised.
The arrangement broadly covers: Exchange of programmes between the MRF Pace Foundation and the ACA; Pace Foundation trainees to join the ACA team to play matches in Australia and elsewhere during their tours to gain experience; Reciprocal visits from the ACA to play with MRF Pace Foundation teams in India; Exchange and update of information regarding advanced bowling skills, training procedures, injury prevention methods, bio mechanics etc by way of reciprocal visits of coaches and fitness experts of the ACA and the Pace Foundation.
As part of the exchange programme, the ACA is sending out a team to India from April 3 to 10, comprising promising young spinners and batsmen to play some matches. According to a press release from TA Sekhar, chief coach at the Pace Foundation in Chennai, the trainees are very keen to play in conditions prevailing in the sub-continent. They will be trained under the tutelage of former spin greats Erapali Prasanna and Bishen Bedi at the MRF Pace Foundation. The batsmen accompanying the spinners will learn to play under spinner friendly conditions. This is the second such trip of the ACA to India following a visit by some trainees last year.
