PTV to show live pictures of Test ties

Islamabad, Nov 2: Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) has made special arrangements to show complete live pictures of the three-match Test series between Pakistan and Australia starting Nov 5 from Australia for the first time, it was learnt here.

PTV will also bring live coverage of the Triangular Series involving Pakistan, India and hosts Australia in January-February 2,000, controller sports Usman Gul told Dawn.

It was stated that it was for the first time that PTV has bought rights to televise live pictures of the whole series in Australia.

The timings (PST) for the first two Tests from Brisbane and Hobart are 5.00 am to 12.00 noon. However, due to time difference at Perth the third Test will start at 7.30 am (PST) till 2.30 pm.

These matches will only be televised on PTV-1 since the agreement only includes Pakistan territory, it was learnt. PTV will also show one-hour highlights of day's play during the Sports Hour on the following day.

Moreover, all formalities have been completed to bring the live pictures of the Triangular One-Day Series starting January 8 with Pakistan vs Australia match. Each side will play the opponents four times before the two finalists are decided. The two finalists will then play a best-of-three matches final. In case one team wins two consecutive matches in the final stage, the third final will not be held. The finals are scheduled for February 2-4-6.

Since venues for the triangular series have varying time difference, the PTV has given approximately 8.00 am (PST) as the starting time.
