TORONTO, Sept 20: The touring Pakistan team has lodged a formal complaint to the 32nd Division of the Metro police in Toronto against Shiv Kumar Thind, the spectator who was involved in a fracas with Inzamam-ul-Haq on Sunday last.

The counter-claim of assault is reported to have been made two days after the involved spectator reported Inzamam to the police for assault. Inzamam, who has been banned for two games in this tournament and has received a suspended sentence for another game, was charged with two counts for assault and one with a weapon, a bat. He was later released on bail of dollar 3,000 to appear in court here.

On Pakistan's complaint against Shiv Kumar Thind, the spectator was arrested and will now appear on court on Oct 8, according to Detective Derek Young. Metro Police allege that Shiv Kumar, 29 of Etobicoke in Toronto, threw his megaphone at the player, narrowly missing him.

The incident took place during the second game in the Sahara Cup at the Cricket Skating and Curling Club when Inzamam entered the stands to challenge the man to try to stop him hurling abuse at him and later when a megaphone was thrown at him he attempted to hit the man with a bat but was restrained and escorted away to the pavilion. The game had to be stopped for 37 minutes before it resumed.

The Pakistan manager on tour, Maazullah Khan, was however guarded and in saying that a complaint has also been made to the police by the team. ``I am talking to the lawyers this afternoon and then can say anything,'' he said. If only The Management on tour was strong and experienced this unsavoury incident would not have happened.

Pakistan Cricket Board representative, Ehsan Mani, who arrived here yesterday has not had a meeting with the team manager or the coach and was hoping to meet them during the fourth match here on Saturday which was delayed because of overnight rain and soggy conditions.
