Each team to receive a maximum of 40 overs, with each bowler restricted to 8 overs and the bowler's run-up restricted to 15 yards.
If two or more teams finish in on the same number of points in any of the first four places, the positions will be decided on the most wins, or if still equal, the most away wins, or if still equal the highest average run-rate per hundred balls throughout the season. Counties with the same number of points in other than first four places share the position.

Points system:
Win: 4 points
Tie: 2 points
No result: 2 points

Four fielders (plus the bowler and wicket-keeper) must be within the area 30 yards from the wicket for each ball.

Prize Money
1st: 26500 pounds
2nd: 13000 pounds
3rd: 6500 pounds
4th: 3250 pounds
Winer of each match: 275 pounds (shared in the event of a 'no result')

Batting award: 300 pounds was awarded to the batsman hitting the highest score - T.M.Moody of Worcestershire with 160.

Bowling award: 300 pounds was awarded to the bowler with best bowling figures - N.G.Cowans of Middlesex with 6-9.


The top four teams qualified to play in the Refuge Assurance Cup.

Semi-Finals
Lancashire beat Northamptonshire by four wickets
Nottinghamshire lost to Worcestershire by 14 runs

Final
Worcestershire beat Lancashire by 7 runs

Prize money
winner: 6000 pounds
losing finalist: 3000 pounds
losing semi-finalists: 1500 pounds each
man of the match in the final: 350 pounds - S.J.Rhodes of Worcestershire.
man of the match in each of the semi-finals: 175 pounds - N.J.Speak of Lancashire and G.A.Hick of Worcestershire.
