After John Commins, the Province captain, had closed his team's first innings at 261 for five - 178 runs behind Australia's 439 for four declared on the first day - medium paceman Jacques Kallis picked up three wickets to reduce the tourists to 78 for four. Australia's overall lead was 256 runs with six wickets in hand. The Australians' young attack, without fast bowler Glenn McGrath and leg-spinner Shane Warne, had the Western Province batsmen struggling until the fifth-wicket pair of Commins and Hylton Ackerman jnr cut loose with 60 runs in only 48 minutes to set up the declaration. When Australia batted again, Kallis captured two of his wickets in three balls. Source :: Electronic Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk) Contributed by The Management (help@cricinfo.com)
