A tall, athletic fast-medium bowler, Henry Osinde was born and raised in Uganda. He was first introduced to the game at the age of 15, but did not take it seriously until he was 17 and a student at Makerere University. He emigrated to Canada in 2000 and made history in 2002 by becoming the first African to play in the Toronto & District Cricket Association league. He soon made an impression in Canadian cricket, rising to the position of captain of Brampton Masters in the domestic club leagues. He made his Canada debut against, of all teams, Uganda in the ICC Trophy in 2005 and played some Intercontinental Cup cricket as well before his full ODI debut against Zimbabwe at Port of Spain in May 2006. He went wicketless at the World Cup in 2007 but has since distinguished himself as a strike bowler of considerable pace and skill and a matchwinner at Associate level. His record was somewhat marred, however, when he was sent home from Sri Lanka, where the national team had been preparing for the World Twenty20 Qualifiers in United Arab Emirates, for allegedly breaching the code of conduct in early 2010.
