Anti-climax of the day
Kevin Pietersen's fourth-ball clip to Damien Martyn at short midwicket. Sunday's hero was Monday's first victim and ended England's dreams of a draw.
Lowlight of the Day
More like "no light of the day". Early risers at the Gabba were met by policemen directing traffic and darkness inside the stands following a power cut. It's unsure whether a Barmy Army soldier had found the stadium's fuse box, but they were disappointed when the lights and scoreboard came back on before play.
Comeback of the Day
The Barmy Army, finally freed by the fun police, were allowed to sit where they pleased in an otherwise-empty stadium, and fanned the embers of England's innings with their most enthusiastic support of the match.
Shot of the Day
Nothing much else that he tried came off in this match, but Steve Harmison's timing and placement was perfect when he swept Shane Warne through midwicket for one last defiant boundary.
Quote of the Day
When asked what he thought of Dennis Lillee's offer to help Harmison, Ricky Ponting said: "He doesn't seem to be a great fan of the Australian team at the moment." Lillee has also been critical of the age of the outfit in the lead-up to the series.
